Re: Mapping Issue (ground/walkway)
Just make a block the same height and then just use the carving tool to make it as slanted as you want and I don't have L4D so i can't help you on the L4D question

Re: Mapping Issue (ground/walkway)
I have used it once, and once you've used it, its pretty easy. I found a tutorial on youtube sometime ago, about making circles. That taught me

Re: Mapping Issue (ground/walkway)
ok well i started using it and i figured out it cuts the peices that overlap and removes them but im still having the 'small' edge drop off like in the picture but its not as bad now & im still having issues on the ground touching is there an easy way to make ramps? im having to use the transform tool or what ever it is called & then use rotate and the other items, but it seems i cant match them exactly?
& Thanks for the help
& Thanks for the help

Re: Mapping Issue (ground/walkway)
Don't carve, it makes off-grid brushes, which makes vis have a heart attack.

Re: Mapping Issue (ground/walkway)
Carve is baaaddddd, use clip like Chargers showed.
Also, to fix the little ledge problem, use vertex manipulation to move the corners manually.

Edit:
It's lecture time, guys.
I'll explain the whole carve vs clip thing in a bit.

Re: Mapping Issue (ground/walkway)
I was going to make a video but I'll just type it out.
Most newbies become attached to carve in the beginning because it appears to be the faster of the two, but that really isn't advisable because they both do the same thing, but clip gives better results.
Carve's method is to cut along each face. This leads to verticies off grid, more brushes than necessary and the brushes cut in a way that is usually undesirable.
When cutting a doorway with carve, you get this:
And with clip:
Notice that with clip, the walls on either side of the doorway are whole, while with carve the top part is a separate.
Having the wall one solid piece means that the walls will be easier to work with, and more VVIS friendly.

Re: Mapping Issue (ground/walkway)
Here is my explanation for your problems!
Make a block like this
The red means what side it will cut off. So we have to change it from this
To this
Then it is nice and perfect!
I also recommend you start cleaning up your work because it isn't very neat and tighty and its hard to find here you want to put your block. I fixed up some of the problems in your map. All I need to know is your email!
