HL2 problems

My HL2 simply won't let me play. Have been trying to make it work, but when it's loading, it stops when it's almost finished. It only fucks up with the original. Episode 1 and 2 works fine for me.

What should I do?

hmmz, i have a list of possible fixes here:
1. set launch options of HL2 to:
-novid
2. set launch options to:
-novid -dxlevel95
3. check the shortcut/launcher for errors
4. reinstall HL2 :/

There's a .txt file that you can delete, that contains all the configurations for HL2.. when you launch HL2 and it doesn't find it, it automatically writes a new one.. but I can't remember what the files called

EDIT: I'll take a look at what its called. Also, try this:

Right click HL2 in your games list, click Properties, Local Files tab > "Defragment Cache Files".. if that doesn't do anything, try the "Verify integrity of game cache" option.
